Peninsula Burglars Stole Remotes To Enter Garages, Police Say

In all three cases, burglars appeared to break into homeowners' cars to get to remote controls that allowed them to open the garages.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Police are investigating three garage burglaries in which suspects used remotes left in victims' parked cars to open garage doors, San Mateo police said Wednesday.

The burglaries occurred in the early morning Sunday and Monday in three homes in the Parkside neighborhood east of Highway 101 in San Mateo. In each case, suspects accessed the garage after breaking into the homeowner's car parked in the driveway, according to police. The cars were both locked and unlocked.

Police are investigating the burglaries and looking for suspects captured on surveillance cameras.
