Silicon Valley Elderly Couple Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide

BREAKING: The bodies of a husband and wife were discovered Tuesday inside a Silicon Valley residence, police said.

SILICON VALLEY, CA -- The deaths of an elderly couple in the city of Santa Clara are being investigated as a murder-suicide, police said. Two bodies were discovered just after noon Tuesday inside a home in the 2200 block of Homestead Road, Santa Clara police said in a statement.

Officers had been dispatched to the residence for an "unknown situation," and when they arrived they saw a body through a window, police said. The officers entered the home and found a second body. The two appeared to have suffered from gunshot wounds, according to police.

The deceased man and woman were husband and wife, police said, and their identities will be released when their next of kin are properly notified.

As the deaths appeared to be murder-suicide, there are no outstanding suspects and there is no danger to the public, police said.

Meanwhile, the Santa Clara Police Department's detective bureau is thoroughly investigating the situation; more information will be released as it becomes available, police said.
