SMPD Nabs Second Burglary Suspect After Overnight Search
A 'shelter in place' order had been issued Wednesday night.

San Mateo police have a second suspect in custody after an overnight search for two possibly armed men who were seen fleeing from the scene of a car burglary Wednesday night.
The first suspect was detained late Wednesday and the second suspect was later found hiding in some bushes, according to police Lt. Ted Gonzales.

No injuries were reported and Gonzales said more information will be released later Thursday.
The search began in the 300 block of South Fremont Street earlier Wednesday evening after witnesses reported suspects fleeing from an auto burglary with one of them appearing to have a handgun, police said.

Nearby residents were advised to shelter in place and close and lock their doors and windows during the search. San Mateo police and the American Red Cross also set up a shelter for displaced residents at 725 Monte Diablo Ave.
