Three Men Accused of Peninsula Porch Burglary Spree

Sheriff's officials say they've nabbed three men who were caught stealing packages off local porches.

HALF MOON BAY, CA- Sheriff’s deputies have arrested three men on suspicion of stealing packages from homes in Half Moon Bay, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies on Thursday arrested 52-year-old Vallejo resident Marcus Cooper, 33-year-old Pacifica resident Deshawn Smith, and 24-year-old San Leandro resident Daniel Lucero on suspicion of package theft and related charges.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, a deputy was on patrol in the 300 block of Poplar Street when he spotted a car acting suspiciously, sheriff’s officials said.

When the three occupants inside the vehicle saw the deputy’s cruiser, the driver of the car reportedly pulled into a driveway, officials said. Another resident approached the deputy and told him that the vehicle’s occupants didn’t live at that address.

After the car left the driveway, the deputy spotted several boxes discarded adjacent to where the vehicle had been parked, according to sheriff’s officials.

The deputy stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of Poplar Beach and through an investigation, found evidence indicating the trio had stolen several packages from porches of residences on Railroad Avenue in Half Moon Bay, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies arrested the three men and booked them in the Maguire Correctional Facility without incident, officials said.
