Vigilant Resident Helps Redwood City Firefighters Quickly Contain Business Blaze
Fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading beyond where it started, officials say. (Breaking)

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Equipment used by a Redwood City business caught fire late Monday night, and a vigilant resident is credited with helping firefighters quickly contain the blaze. According to Redwood City fire officials, the fire was reported around 11:24 p.m. in the in the 2600 block of Spring Street, near Douglas Avenue.
"A nearby resident noticed smoke coming from the building and called 911," fire officials said on Twitter. "As crews entered the business searching for the fire, moderately heavy, black smoke started coming out of the point of entry."
At that point, the incident was upgraded from a "smoke coming out of a building call" to a "structure fire," and more resources were sent to the scene.

Firefighters kept the fire from spreading beyond the equipment that was burning, the agency said.
The business was closed when the blaze was reported, according to fire officials. No one was injured.
