CHP: Hayward Man, 19, Arrested After Sideshow Stops Traffic on I-880
Officers responded to reports from callers around 4 p.m., CHP officials said.

California Highway Patrol officers arrested a 19-year-old Hayward man during a sideshow on Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland, according to a CHP officer. Officer Sean Wilkenfeld said officers responded to reports from callers around 4 p.m. that multiple vehicles were spinning doughnuts and had stopped traffic in the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Hegenberger Expressway.
One officer reported being pelted with rocks and bottles once on scene, Wilkenfeld said. The officer stopped a red Ford Mustang and Wilkenfeld said the officer cited the driver for reckless driving and impounded the vehicle for 30 days. Wilkenfeld said officers have identified at least two other people who may have been participating in the sideshow.
