Man Found Murdered Near Lake Merritt Identified
The victim had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man found shot and killed just a few blocks from Oakland’s Lake Merritt early Tuesday morning was identified by police today as 49-year-old Oakland resident Allen Lewis.
Lewis was found suffering from a gunshot wound just after 5 a.m. in the 300 block of East 17th Street, a narrow residential street in Oakland’s Eastlake neighborhood, police said.
He was pronounced dead there.
