Jury Acquits Man In Killing Of Guerneville Male, 19

A Marin County Superior Court jury Tuesday acquitted a Dillon Beach man of killing a Guerneville man at a trailer at Lawson’s Landing last year.

The jury began deliberations Monday afternoon and acquitted 57-year-old Ken Neville of voluntary manslaughter around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Marin County Chief Deputy District Attorney Barry Borden said.

Neville faced 21 years in prison for the March 20 slaying of Stachaun Jackson, 19, and use of a firearm, Borden said.

Jackson was staying at the trailer with Neville and Neville’s romantic partner Eric Wayne Gillespie. Marin County sheriff’s officials said Jackson threatened Neville and Gillespie with a knife and when one of the men called 911, Jackson told him to call back the sheriff’s office and cancel the call.

Gillespie gave Neville a .38-caliber revolver and when Jackson lunged toward Neville, Neville shot Jackson outside of the trailer, according to the sheriff’s office. Jackson died at the scene.

Gillespie, 51, was found dead in Tehama County later that month and his death was ruled a suicide.
