Possible Explosive Rendered Safe: Deputies

The device was found Thursday near a PG&E substation, officials said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A possible explosive device was rendered safe Thursday evening after it was found outside a PG&E substation in the unincorporated Sonoma County community of Fulton, a sheriff's spokesman said.

As of 6:15 p.m., the device had been blown up where it was found, which was about 30 to 40 yards from a fence surrounding the substation in the 600 block of River Road, sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

No one was injured and the substation was not damaged.

Crum said the sheriff's office will be investigating among other things why the device was near the substation.
