Hiker Dies Following Fall From Half Dome Cables In Yosemite
The death is the first in the park in 2018 and the first fatality from the cables since a San Ramon woman died in 2011.

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CA — A hiker fell to his death Monday while climbing Half Dome, Yosemite National Park officials said. The male, whose name has not yet been released, was hiking with another person when he slipped and fell to his death. Officials said the duo was hiking “during thunderstorm activity” although it is not known if that contributed to the fall.
Rangers recovered the man’s body Tuesday afternoon. The incident is under investigation. The death is the first for the park in 2018 and the first fatality from the cables since San Ramon resident Hayley LaFlamme died in 2011.
