1. Assemblymember Ramos Launches County's Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign (citynewsgroup.com) — San Bernardino County residents are invited to the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Kickoff on October 20 in Highland, where Assemblymember James Ramos will launch this year's holiday fundraising drive. Proceeds support shelters, meals, job training, and other services across San Bernardino, mountain communities, and nearby cities, and volunteers are needed to ring bells and help reach a $150,000 goal.
   

2. San Bernardino County Documentary Reframes Dec. 2 Terror Attack Through Victims, Survivors (iecn.com) — San Bernardino County filmmakers have released a documentary, "We Remember | December 2, 2015," focusing on victims, survivors and community healing after the Inland Regional Center attack. The film also explains the Curtain of Courage memorial outside the county Government Center, helping newer residents and employees understand its meaning and the stories behind the 14 people honored there.
   

3. Operation Consequences Nets 11 Felony Arrests and Eight Firearms Across San Bernardino County (crimevoice.com) — Recent crime-suppression sweeps in San Bernardino and nearby cities led to 11 felony arrests and the seizure of eight firearms, including three ghost guns, over one week. The county-funded Operation Consequences targets gangs and people barred from owning guns, and will continue focusing on San Bernardino-area communities in coming months.
   

4. Strawberry Canyon restoration effort gains support (thealpinemountaineer.com) — A local conservation group has secured new grant funding to keep fighting commercial water diversions from Strawberry Canyon in the San Bernardino National Forest. The Save Our Forest Association's lawsuit aims to restore Strawberry Creek, protect wildlife habitat, and reduce wildfire risk for nearby mountain communities while state regulators pursue a parallel case over BlueTriton's water rights.
   

5. Metrolink Announces $10 Labor Day Weekend Day Passes (mynewsla.com) — San Bernardino riders can take advantage of Metrolink's $10 day pass for unlimited travel over Labor Day weekend, with trains running on a weekend schedule Monday. Service will operate on the San Bernardino Line and Arrow between San Bernardino and Redlands, though the Riverside Line will be shut down for the holiday.
