SAN DIEGO, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, residents should expect a warming trend this week, according to the National Weather Service.

"A warming trend will start today and then accelerate through most of the week," NWS Los Angeles forecasters wrote Monday. "This warm up will likely lead to a long and dangerous heatwave that could last through early next week."

In other news, a knife-wielding man was fatally shot by a customer at a restaurant; a teen tied to numerous large-scale thefts was busted; three people were injured in a shooting at a pool party; and a woman was rescued after falling from a bridge.

Also, two U.S. Forest Service employees were rescued after being kidnapped and held hostage for hours in a remote California forest.

Plus, California ranked among the top 20 states in the country for doing business, according to an annual comparison of all 50 states.
