But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, Golden State residents should know that a small plane crashed in San Diego County, killing the passenger and leaving the pilot in critical condition. A retired airport police and fire officer was nearby and ran over to the crash site and performed a heroic rescue.
In other news, more than 600 pharmacists and pharmacy workers at Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons and Pavilions stores in Southern California could walk out following an "overwhelming" membership vote to authorize union leadership to call for a strike.
