Flash Flood Warning, Flood Advisory Issued For Parts Of SD County

"Life-threatening flash flooding," forecasters warned. "Heavy rain producing flash flooding."

SAN DIEGO, CA — The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning and flood advisory Thursday for parts of San Diego County as the first of two back-to-back storms rolled across the region.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 1:45 p.m. for northwestern San Diego County. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Escondido, Falbrook, Oceanside, San Marcos, Valley Center and Vista.

As of 11:49 a.m., doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the area under the warning. Between a half-inch and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen, according to the NWS. Another half-inch to 1 inch of rain is possible in the area.

A flood advisory is also in effect until 1:42 p.m. for parts of the county. Some locations that will experience flooding include Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Fallbrook, Oceanside, Poway, Ramona and Vista.

The NWS extended the flood advisory until 3:30 p.m. for Alpine, Chula Vista, Coronado, El Cajon, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, National City, Poway, Ramona and San Diego.

"Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads," the NWS warned. "Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."
