The innovative I-15 Express Lanes provide 20 miles of flexible travel between State Route 78 in Escondido and State Route 163 in San Diego. Riders can get on and off the Express Lanes using five Direct Access Ramps (DARs) located at the Escondido, Del Lago, Rancho Bernardo, Sabre Springs/Peñasquitos, and Miramar College transit stations. Plus, there are 16 other access points where they can choose to get in or out of the Express Lanes.
The barrier in the middle of the Express Lanes is now moved Monday – Thursday mornings so three southbound Express Lanes provide congestion relief for rush-hour commuters and keep travel times reliable.
The Express Lanes are always free to carpools, vanpools, transit riders, clean air vehicle drivers, and motorcyclists. Solo drivers can get FasTrak online or at Costco. The toll will automatically be deducted from their accounts based on the length of the trip and traffic in the lanes.
