Uber Launches JUMP Scooters In San Diego
Uber is offering free rides and free helmets through Jan. 9, 2019, to celebrate the rollout in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Ridesharing company Uber launched dockless JUMP e-scooters in San Diego Wednesday.
Uber acquired JUMP, a bikeshare company, in May to expand its public transit offerings.
Uber brought JUMP e-bikes to America's Finest City in November, dispersing 300 bikes around the city from Pacific Beach to downtown San Diego. San Diego is the fourth city to receive the scooters, joining Los Angeles, Santa Monica and Austin, Texas.

To jump on a JUMP scooter, riders can use the main Uber app to unlock one and begin to ride. When using the app, riders tap the mode switch at the top of the home screen and select "Bike & Scooter."
Uber is offering free rides and free helmets through Jan. 9, 2019, to celebrate the rollout in San Diego. Residents can receive up to five 30-minute rides per day. After that it will cost $1 to unlock a scooter and $0.10 per minute for rides.
