• Colorado River Cuts Put San Diego Water Investments Back in Focus (santeepulse.com) — San Diego County's long-term investments in diverse water supplies are expected to shield local customers, including those in Santee's Padre Dam district, from immediate impacts of new Colorado River cutbacks. Officials say desalination, storage, senior water rights, and recycled water projects put the region in a stronger position, though conservation and higher bills are still likely over time.
   

• Breaking: Sunrise Fire in San Diego County sparked by human activity on Sep. 12 (sacbee.com) — A new wildfire called the Sunrise Fire was reported late Saturday night in San Diego County and is suspected to be human-caused, though details are still unknown. Burning on federal land managed by the U.S. Forest Service, the blaze had been active about 15 hours as of Sunday afternoon, with no containment information yet available for San Diego–area residents.
   

• San Diego County approves $300,000 grant to support East County small businesses (10news.com) — East County small businesses are getting access to new low-interest loans after the San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved a $300,000 grant for the East County Economic Development Council's revolving loan fund. Entrepreneurs in communities like Santee and nearby unincorporated areas can apply for up to $5,000 to buy equipment, cover working capital, or expand, with repaid funds recycled to help more local owners.
