2 SFPD Officers Test Positive For Coronavirus
Both officers are at home. More than 2 dozen officers are self-quarantining as a precaution.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Two San Francisco police officers have tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus and more than two dozen others have been ordered to self-quarantine as of Wednesday, according to police.
The first officer, a sergeant who wasn't identified, works with the department's Special Victims Unit at the Hall of Justice and went home ill on Friday, Officer Robert Rueca said. They informed their superior of the illness, contacted medical personnel and worked from home Monday.
After the department was notified Tuesday morning of the sergeant's positive test, the unit's staff was notified and the office closed for an organized deep cleaning. Rueca said the sergeant's work partner - who also wasn't identified - didn't come into work Monday or Tuesday after not feeling well.

Both officers are self-quarantining at home, according to Rueca.
In addition to the two officers, 25 others and two civilian staff members were sent home to self-quarantine for two weeks. The office has been closed to public "walk-ins" since Monday, March 16, but services remain available to the public, per Rueca.
