$20 Million Gift To UCSF Announced

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A $20 million gift from longtime University of California at San Francisco donors Dagmar and David Dolby will establish the UCSF Dolby Family Center for Mood Disorders in the Department of Psychiatry at the university.

The new center will be part of the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences, which integrates bench-to-bedside research and patient-centered care with the aim of addressing the increasing prevalence of mood disorders across diverse populations, according to university officials.

The center will be housed within two state-of-the-art buildings. The Child, Teen and Family Center will house the Department of Psychiatry as well as faculty and clinical programs while the balance of the center will be
in the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Neurosciences Building, which will also house faculty and programs.

The investment will also establish the Dolby Family Precision Medicine in Mood Disorders Program, which will initially focus on treatment-resistant depression.

The gift builds on the Dolby family's 2015 investment in mood disorders research and funding to support clinical research and treatment programs, and to establish the Ray and Dagmar Dolby Faculty Scholar Fund.
