BART Riders Evacuated at Glen Park Station due to Debris Fire: Reports
Riders described to Patch their evacuation from the trains due to a fire on the tracks at Glen Park station.

San Francisco, CA — BART riders have described being evacuated from trains at signs of smoke early this morning at about 8 a.m. PST. The BART Twitter then reported trains delayed by about 10 minutes near the Glen Park station in San Francisco.

David Prock was on the train on the way from Balboa when it stopped at Glen Park and stood for about a minute. The announcer then told riders there was a fire and asked them to evacuate.
"We all departed in various states of calm, and the response time [by the fire department] was under five minutes," Prock told Patch. He also said that something like this had never happened to him before.

Rider Jennifer Knecht told Patch that the cause was a debris fire on the tracks at Glenn Park station. According to KRON 4, Bart officials also said the cause for evacuation was a debris fire on the tracks.
KRON 4 also reports that fire officials extinguished the fire at 8:08 a.m. and that crews cleared the scene.

Train service has resumed, with residual delays.
San Francisco BART did not respond to Patch's request for comment.
