CA Wildfire Rescue: CHP Officer Cradles Tiny Fawn
The fawn was found at the Carr Fire, too close to the flames to leave until its mother returned.

REDDING, CA — The Carr Fire that's burning a bit over 200 miles to the north of San Francisco has now claimed six lives - two firefighters and four civilians. Both the Redding Police Department and Shasta County Sheriff's Office are searching for a combined 16 people who have been reported missing. Authorities believe that many of those people safely escaped the fire but haven't contacted family members yet. To back up that belief, homes of the missing have been checked and vehicles were not parked outside.
One successful fire rescue was posted on Facebook by the California Highway Patrol over the weekend - a fawn tiny enough to be cradled in a patrol car by a CHP officer. The CHP wrote, "From within the #CarrFire fire line, fire officials found this fawn by himself. He was way too close to the fire to allow him to stay until his mom returned."
A local deer rescue organization was contacted to care for the baby.
