NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — As a new week begins, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for a great week.

But before we jump into Northern California's top stories, residents should expect summer-like weather to start off the week, according to the National Weather Service.

"Typical summer-like pattern to persist throughout the first half of the week," NWS Bay Area forecasters wrote Sunday. "Temperatures are forecast to dip below seasonal averages by late week and into the upcoming weekend as an upper level trough impacts the region."

In other news, a man suspected of killing a toddler was arrested in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, authorities announced.

A Bay Area shooting left a woman dead and a man wounded, police said.

A man was rescued after he drove off a coastal cliff and was ejected from his car, authorities said.

Plus, UC Santa Cruz graduate teaching assistants, researchers and other academic workers will strike Monday, the union representing 48,000 student workers across the University of California announced. The workers at Santa Cruz will be the first to strike after the union voted to authorize its executive board to call for a strike at any time and at any campus.
