Flooding, Evacuations, Roads Closed, Power Outages: Storm Wallops Area
From the North Bay to the Monterey Peninsula, Sunday's storm produced a wide swath of damage and, in some cases, life-threatening danger.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA — At least one person was injured when a powerful storm pushed by high winds and downpours falling on already saturated ground caused damage from the North Bay to the Monterey Peninsula, as some residents fled their homes under evacuation orders due to flooding.
The injury was reported in the North Bay when a tree fell on a car as it was driving on US Highway 101. The driver was hospitalized. The extent of the driver's injuries are not known at this time.
Some 400,000 customers were without electricity Sunday evening. PG&E alone had 389,000 customers offline at 7 p.m. Several Bay Area cities have their own municipal power companies, and also report problems due to downed poles and power lines.
The South Bay had the most PG&E outages, at 139,700 homes and businesses. North Bay outages affected 94,200 customers, followed by the Peninsula with 81,600 customers. The East Bay was dealing with 54,000 outages and San Francisco had 20,000 customers offline
Statewide, the toll was much worse, as PG&E had more than one million people without power at one time Sunday night.
The biggest immediate threat to life was in Monterey County where the Carmel River was threatening. Several communities along the river were ordered to evacuate.
Other Monterey County residents were ordered to shelter-in-place.
