Formal Sale Bid Might be Coming to Twitter Soon: Report

Major tech companies including Google, Salesforce, Microsoft and Verizon are reportedly interested in acquiring the company.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Several high-profile tech companies are reportedly interested in acquiring social media networking site Twitter, and the company's shares responded positively to the possibility of a sale, which was reported by both CNBC and TechCrunch.

Sources told CNBC that the companies that have expressed interest in the company include Google and Salesforce. The network also reported that a formal bid may be coming shortly. TechCrunch reported that Microsoft, which recently acquired LinkedIn for $26.2 million, and Verizon, which recently acquired Yahoo and has agreed to purchase AOL. AOL has an ownership stake in Patch.
