Free Muni Rides Offered In San Francisco New Year's Eve

The free rides are on all San Francisco Muni lines and routes from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — New Year's Eve revelers will be able to enjoy free rides on all San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) lines and routes from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency said.

Passengers should not clip their Clipper cards or activate their MuniMobile tickets during the free service period.

Additionally, extra Muni Metro service will be offered between the West Portal and Fourth and King streets stations from 9 p.m. until 2:15 a.m.; and between the West Portal and Embarcadero stations from 2:15 a.m. to 4 a.m.

Extra service will also be offered on Muni's late-night Owl routes.

A city-sponsored fireworks show will be held at midnight off The Embarcadero, south of the Ferry Building. Muni will reroute around the Ferry Building area due to crowds. These reroutes will begin around 10 p.m. Service will return to normal once the streets are clear.
