Giants Hold 14th Annual Junior Giants Willie Mac Award Luncheon
More than 100 players, coaches and parents were honored on Sunday.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA ā Just a few days after AT&T Park held a memorial for legendary Hall of Famer Willie McCovey, the atmosphere was dramatically different for the 14th annual Junior Giants Willie Mac Award Luncheon. McCovey was dedicated to helping local under-privileged youth play ball for free.
Junior Giants is a free, noncompetitive, coed baseball and softball program for nearly 24,000 boys and girls throughout California, Oregon and Nevada. Annually, over 5,200 volunteers serve as coaches and team parents.
At Sunday's luncheon, 86 Junior Giants players and 87 coaches and team parents were recognized for their exceptional leadership.
