SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Beachgoers were warned on Sunday to stay vigilant through Monday as an incoming swell was forecast to bring "sneaker waves" and dangerous rip currents to the Bay Area's coastline.

A Beach Hazards Statement was activated at 1 p.m. on Sunday and was set to end on Monday at 1 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

"The waters may appear deceptively calm but are still dangerous. Never turn your back to the ocean!" NWS officials tweeted.
