Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake Hits Off Northern California Coast

BREAKING: The massive quake struck early Thursday morning. No tsunami warnings have been issued as a result of the quake.

FERNDALE, CA — A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the Northern California coast early Thursday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey. The massive quake, which was centered in the Pacific Ocean, hit at 6:49 a.m. No tsunami warnings have been issued as a result of the quake.

Residents in Loleta, Fortuna and as far away as Oregon reported feeling the earthquake.

It is unknown if there are any injuries or damage at this point.

Bay Area BART trains ran at reduced speeds as a precaution, causing system-wide delays of about 10 minutes.
