Man Accused Of Trafficking Minor Out Of The East Bay: DA
The man is also suspected of trying to recruit the minor to work as a sex worker for him, prosecutors said.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A Daly City man has been charged in connection with the human trafficking of a minor whom he was trying to recruit for sex work, prosecutors said.
Otis Broughton, 28, was charged with human trafficking involving a minor by force and pandering by encouraging in connection with the incident on June 20, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors say Broughton picked up the girl around 11:32 p.m. in Oakland and drove her towards San Francisco.

Once there, he sped through Turk Street, making "quick, unsafe lane changes until officers pulled him over, prosecutors said.
The girl refused to speak with officers until they separated her from Broughton, prosecutors said.

Then, she told officers that he kept insisting, through tears, that she wanted to go home, but Broughton ignored her pleas, prosecutors said.
Text messages later read by police show Broughton was trying to recruit the girl to be a sex worker for him, prosecutors said.
Broughton was arraigned on Wednesday. It's unclear whether he submitted a plea, but prosecutors said they would move to have him held without bail due to the "public safety risk he poses."
