Meet an “Amazing” Dedicated to Loving Service

Martha Bachmann, 100, is the longest longest-serving volunteer at Stanford Health Care in its history.

Martha Bachmann, age 100, is the longest longest-serving volunteer in Stanford Health Care’s history, having served as a “Pink Lady” for fifty-four years, with no intention of stopping.

Martha's only concern is that when her driver’s license expires in a year or so, she may find it more challenging to get to the hospital. Martha’s primary duty is to stock the patient shopping cart and do “rounds” of the floors. In addition, Martha greets every newborn she meets with a tiny beanie she knits at home, with the help of her daughter and a fellow volunteer. Happy and healthy, Martha considers herself “blessed” - and indeed, she is a blessing to all those she encounters!
