Slack Is Back: Vital Messaging App Returns After Mass Outage

Slack, a messaging tool with about 6 million daily​ users, had a mass outage Wednesday morning. But you probably knew that.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Slack, the office messaging system with about 6 million users nationwide, has returned to service after experiencing system-wide connectivity issues Wednesday.

"We're happy to report that workspaces should be able to connect again, as we've isolated the problem," the company said around 9:49 a.m. Pacific Time.

Some user might have to refresh the app. Those still experiencing issues should contact the company at @feedback@slack.com

The company sent American workers into a panic when it said it was experiencing technical difficulties around 6:30 a.m. The company posted on its website it had received word that all workspaces are having troubles connecting to Slack.

"We're currently investigating the issue, and will have updates shortly," the company said.

About three hours later, the company said it was honing in on the issue.

"We're getting closer to a solution, but we aren't out of the woods yet," the company said.

According to Forbes, more than 50,000 teams pay for Slack's service "accounting for two million paid users, including 43 [percent] of the largest 100 companies in the nation by revenue."

The internet quickly exploded with humorous memes, tweets and gifs as the nation gave a collective sigh and quipped about the loss in productivity.
