Sneaker Waves To 22 Feet: San Francisco Coastal Advisory
"A sneaker wave is powerful enough to knock unsuspecting people into the ocean," according to the NWS.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Take extra precautions if your plans for the day take you to Ocean Beach, Lands End or elsewhere along the coastline. The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Hazard message for sneaker waves of 17 to 22 feet.
There is also a danger of rip currents.
"A sneaker wave is powerful enough to knock unsuspecting people into the ocean," the NWS advised. "The northwest swell has the ability to generate breaking waves of 17 to 22 feet at favored locations. Swell periods will decrease throughout the day on Thursday, but breaking waves of 15 to 20 feet will still be possible."

The Coastal Hazard message is for Sonoma County all the way to Big Sur.
The conditions are expected through 9 p.m. Thursday, according to the NWS.
