Strong Quake, Swarm Felt Across NorCal
A 5.7 quake and dozens of others hit Nevada and were felt across NorCal, according to USGS.
SILVER SPRINGS, NV — A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Carson City and Reno Monday evening, according to the United States Geological Survey. The quake was part of a large swarm that took place over the next few hours that ranged from 2.5 to 5.7.
The 5.7 struck at 6:29 p.m. Monday 20 kilometers east southeast of Silver Springs, Nevada, about 40 miles east of both Carson City and Reno. The quake had a depth of 5 kilometers, and was felt lightly across Western Nevada and throughout Northern California, according to USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” map.
