Tech Giant Plans Hundreds Of Layoffs Across Bay Area: Report
The tech company also plans to cut about 16,000 corporate jobs nationwide, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Amazon plans to lay off nearly 800 employees across the Bay Area sometime in the next few months — the latest in the technology company's downsizing efforts across the country, according to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle.
The cuts will be focused across Amazon's offices in the South Bay, including Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, two of the locations where cuts will hit the hardest, according to the report.
The announcement comes after Amazon said last week it plans to cut about 16,000 corporate jobs nationwide, according to the report. The company also announced its Amazon Fresh line would be closing down. Some of those Amazon Fresh will be turned into Whole Foods.
