Tesla Driver Arrested On Vehicular Manslaughter Charge
San Francisco Police say the driver ran a red light, collided with another vehicle, and then caromed into pedestrians in a crosswalk.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 21-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter following an accident Sunday afternoon in which two people were hit by a car - one fatally -- police say ran a red light in San Francisco's Tenderloin district. The driver has been identified as Kelsey Mariah Cambridge of Vallejo.
The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday at Taylor and O'Farrell when a Tesla driven by Cambridge headed north on Taylor went through the red light and struck a Mini-Cooper crossing Taylor eastbound on O'Farrell. Both cars veered out of control, police said, with the Tesla striking two pedestrians in a crosswalk at the intersection.
The pedestrians were Benjamin and Kelly Dean of Clovis in Fresno County. Benjamin Dean died from his injuries. Kelly Dean remains in the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police.

According to Kelly Dean's Facebook profile, the married couple was celebrating their wedding anniversary in San Francisco.
Neither driver was injured, police said.

Cambridge was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and of running a red light.
