Warm Spell: Heat Advisory Issued For Parts Of San Francisco Bay Area

BAY AREA, CA — Another round of hot weather is expected this week after a heat wave brought above-normal temperatures to the Bay Area last week.

A heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for much of the Bay Area, including the East Bay hills, East Bay interior valleys, North Bay interior mountains, North Bay interior valleys, interior Monterey County, mountains of San Benito County, and the South Bay.

Temperatures are expected in the upper 90s for most inland regions. The warmest spots could reach into the low 100s, according to the NWS.

"Those sensitive to heat, such as the homeless, elderly, children, and pets will be at risk for heat-related illnesses," the NWS said. "Those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration will be at the greatest risk."

Forecasters advised people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Weather officials also reminded residents that young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.

"Beat the heat and check the backseat," the NWS warned. "Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes."
