• Santa Clara County funds independent living home upgrades (sanjosespotlight.com) — Santa Clara County is rolling out $2 million in grants to upgrade independent living homes, including troubled properties in San Jose, with awards up to $450,000 per site and inspections before and after work. Advocates are pushing for background checks on operators and emergency help for residents, especially as San Jose prepares to close five homes for code violations that could displace up to 50 people. Applications are open through June 2027 or until funds run out.
