2 Displaced After Fire Destroys Fairfax Home, Burns Nearby Brush
Two people were displaced after a fire destroyed a home and spread to nearby brush late Sunday night in Fairfax.
FAIRFAX, CA – Two people were displaced after a fire destroyed a home and spread to nearby brush late Sunday night in Fairfax.
Shortly after 11 p.m., firefighters responded to a house fire on Crest Road in Fairfax. The first arriving crew found the home fully engulfed in flames with the fire spreading to nearby vegetation.
The blaze destroyed the home and burned about a quarter-acre of brush. Firefighters from Ross Valley, Marin County, Kentfield, San Rafael, Central Marin, Tiburon and Mill Valley responded to the fire and covered stations while crews worked at the scene. Crews had the fire under control by 12:11 a.m. Monday.

"This is a reminder of the importance of defensible space, which could have reduced the footprint of this fire and decreased the threat of the blaze spreading to neighboring properties," Marin County Fire Chief Jason Weber said in a statement.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
