Blast-Like Sounds Prompt Brief Evacuation of Marin Civic Center
Officials tracked down the source of the sound... and it was perfectly harmless, police said.

The Marin County Civic Center has reopened Thursday morning after blast-like sounds prompted an evacuation of the building but were apparently caused by wheelchair tires, sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies and San Rafael police conducted a room-by-room search at the Civic Center at 10 Avenue of the Flags after reports of loud explosion-like sounds came in around 9:45 a.m.

Sheriff’s officials wrote on Twitter shortly after 10:45 a.m. that deputies had cleared the building and employees were allowed to return.
No other details about the incident were immediately available.
