Blown Transformer Causes Power Outage In San Anselmo: Police

A blown transformer left PG&E customers without power Thursday afternoon in San Anselmo, according to the Central Marin Police Authority.

SAN ANSELMO, CA – A blown transformer left PG&E customers without power Thursday afternoon in San Anselmo, according to the Central Marin Police Authority.

Central Marin Police received multiple reports of a blown transformer in the area of Forbes Avenue. Power was out in several areas, including traffic lights along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

According to PG&E's online outage map, 155 customers were without power in San Anselmo. At the same time, multiple outages left 8,316 customers with no power in San Rafael. It was unknown whether the outages were connected.

Police advised residents that the power outage was not due to PG&E's Public Safety Planned Shutoffs. About 9,855 customers in Marin were warned they could lose power during the shutoffs, but the impacted areas included Bolinas, Fairfax, Mill Valley, Muir Beach, Olema, Sausalito and Stinson Beach.

As of Thursday morning, more than 4,000 customers had no power in Marin due to the planned shutoffs, according to PG&E outage map.
