BACKGROUND:

On October 22, 2013, the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax adopted the updated 2007–2014 Housing Element. The State of California requires updates of the Housing Element generally every five to eight years. The Town has recently initiated the 2015-2023 Housing Element Update process.

As part of the Housing Element update process, the California Department of Housing and Community Development requires that the Town conduct public workshops to provide interested parties an opportunity to participate in the process of obtaining information and setting goals and policies. The purpose of public participation is (1) to educate the public that the Town is required by law to provide housing opportunities to all socioeconomic groups, and (2) to engage the public to get their opinions and determine the preferred method(s) of achieving the requirements that provide housing opportunities to families and individuals from all income segments of the population.

This workshop is a public forum for residents and property owners to express their opinions and ideas on the approach the Town will take in updating the Housing Element. Attendance is voluntary. Comments may also be submitted by email to jmoore@townoffairfax.org.
