Gunshot Victim Found on San Rafael Street, Suspect Sought

The weekend shooting sent one person to the hospital, police said.

One person shot in San Rafael’s Canal neighborhood this weekend is expected to survive, a police corporal said.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired with people fighting in the area of Canal and Fairfax streets around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, San Rafael police Cpl. Justin Graham said.

Arriving officers found a gunshot victim in the middle of the block on Novato Street, the next road south of Fairfax Street, Graham said.

The victim suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was transported to a hospital, he said.

Officers searched the area for suspects without success but did locate evidence related to the shooting, according to Graham.

No arrests had been made as of Sunday, he said.
