Man Arrested After Allegedly Giving Sausalito Cops Fake Name

A 51-year-old man with an arrest warrant out of San Francisco was arrested after he allegedly told officers false information about himself in Sausalito Saturday morning, a police lieutenant said.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious man sitting on a resident’s porch in the 300 block of Richardson Street around 7:50 a.m., Lt. Kurtis Skoog said.

The man, identified as San Francisco resident Dennis Ogg, left the area south on Second Street and was found by officers in the 200 block of Second Street, Skoog said.

Ogg told officers his name was Dennis Mitchell and gave two different dates of births, according to Skoog.

Investigators learned Ogg allegedly stole a bottle of wine from Golden Gate Market.

Ogg was taken to the Sausalito Police Department, where he provided police with his real name and a records check showed he had an outstanding felony arrest warrant of $15,000 for theft out of San Francisco, Skoog said.

While he was interviewed Ogg turned violent and began to kick a door resulting in a struggle with three officers, who were able to place him on a restraining system, according to Skoog.

Units from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist in the struggle. Ogg was booked into the Marin County Jail on the arrest warrant and faces new charges of providing false information to an officer and resisting and obstructing police officers.

Golden Gate Market did not file charges against Ogg for the wine theft, Skoog said.
