Murder Charge Filed In Suspected-DUI Fatality In San Anselmo
A 30-year-old man is accused of driving impaired in weekend death of a pedestrian, 72, and one of her dogs.
MARIN COUNTY, CA – A San Anselmo man was charged with murder Wednesday in Marin County Superior Court after his vehicle struck and killed a woman in a San Anselmo crosswalk Saturday night.
James Boswell, 30, was arraigned on charges of DUI causing injury, DUI with a blood-alcohol level more than 0.08 percent causing injury, gross vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, and murder. He is scheduled to enter pleas to the charges May 15.
Boswell faces a mandatory prison sentence on the murder charge because he was convicted of DUI in Los Angeles in October 2014, according to the complaint.

Boswell was driving in the 300 block of Butterfield Road near Caletta Avenue around 10:10 p.m. Saturday when he struck Carolyn Marie Allen, 72, of San Anselmo, and her two dogs, according to the Central Marin Police Authority.
Allen died in the emergency room of Marin General Hospital, and one of the two dogs survived, according to the Marin County coroner's office.
