'Suspicious Person' Spotted Near Small Brush Fire In Fairfax
The blaze broke out behind the bus stop on Marin Road at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, according to the Fairfax Police Department.
FAIRFAX, CA — A small brush fire was quickly extinguished early Monday morning in Fairfax, where a "suspicious person" was spotted walking away from the area.
Around 1 a.m. Monday, the Fairfax Police Department received a report of a brush fire behind the bus stop on Marin Road at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
Two officers on patrol arrived within a minute of the call, according to Fairfax Police Chief Christopher Morin. They quickly extinguished the 10-foot-by-10 blaze using fire extinguishers from their patrol cars.

"The fire was spreading to nearby bushes and trees," Morin said. "The fire department arrived afterwards and ensured the fire was completely extinguished."
The person who reported the fire also reported seeing a suspicious person walking away from the area, Morin said. The subject was only described as heavy set and wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt.

"While we do not know (if) this person was responsible, we would like anyone who may have also seen anything or recognize anyone from this brief description to call our police station," Morin said.
