UPDATED: Both Missing Hikers Found Safe on Mt. Tam

Crews fanned out on the mountain, above Stinson Beach, to locate the pair Tuesday.

UPDATE 12 P.M.:

One of two hikers reported missing on Mount Tamalpais near Stinson Beach overnight has been found safe Tuesday morning, Marin County sheriff’s officials said.

The ground search for the male and female hikers started at 2:30 a.m. and a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew joined the effort using thermal imaging devices an hour later, National Park Service spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet said.

The park service has 10 searchers on the ground in addition to the Southern Marin County Fire Department’s search and rescue team, Picavet said.

She said the search, which also included the U.S. Coast Guard, was concentrated in the Red Rock area of Mt. Tamalpais State Park.

The male hiker named Rob was located Tuesday morning after walking back to a command post set up in the area for the search.

Two hikers have been reported missing on Mount Tamalpais above Stinson Beach Tuesday morning, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

One hiker is named Jen, who was wearing a multi-colored hooded sweatshirt and has a partially shaved head. The other hiker’s name is Rob, sheriff’s officials said.

No other information about the hikers was immediately available Tuesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
