ALERT: Police Warn of IRS Scam Making Rounds
According to police, the persistent callers claiming to work for the IRS tell their victims that if they do not pay the amount owed immediately, they will be arrested.

San Bruno police are investigating a scam in which a person or persons posing as an Internal Revenue Service agent calls victims and tells them they owe large sums of money to the agency.
According to police, the persistent callers tell their victims that if they do not pay the amount owed to the IRS immediately, they will be arrested by sheriff's deputies. Victims are told that to avoid arrest, they are to immediately process payments over the phone via a wire transfer or pre-loaded debit card.
Police stressed that the IRS does not contact taxpayers via telephone and does not request tax payments in this format.
Local authorities and the IRS are aware of the calls and are actively investigating the scam. Police urge residents who receive such calls to contact Lt. Troy Fry at (650) 616-7100.
