Baby on Board! Woman Gives Birth Mid-Flight
The flight was en route from San Francisco International Airport to Phoenix, but had to be diverted.
You may have heard of water births before, but what about a birth at higher than 20,000 feet in the air?
Thatβs just what happened Tuesday for one woman whose little bundle of joy couldnβt wait any longer. While aboard a Southwest Airlines flight out of San Francisco International Airport, she gave birth on board, arline officials said.
Flight 623, which was supposed to go to Phoenix, was diverted to Los Angeles following the birth, according to Southwest spokeswoman Emily Samuels.

Paramedics boarded the flight when it landed at LAX and tended to the woman and baby, and both were taken to a hospital in good condition, fire officials said.
The flight, carrying 111 passengers, was scheduled to arrive in Phoenix two to three hours late.
βWe love being able to connect our customers to the important moments in their lives but this isnβt normally what we mean,β Samuels said.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the woman delivered a baby boy.
