San Bruno Police: One Car Theft Suspect Caught, Another Sought

A San Francisco man is in custody, and police continue to search for a second suspect wanted in connection with a vehicle burglary in San Bruno Monday evening.

According to San Bruno police, the burglary occurred in a parking lot at 899 El Camino Real at about 5 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses told police they saw two suspects break into a parked car and then leave the scene in a gray-colored vehicle.

On Wednesday evening, Daly City police stopped a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle suspected in the San Bruno burglary, and were able to locate and detain one of the two occupants.

San Bruno police confirmed that the person detained by Daly City officers, Steven Hawkins, 29, of San Francisco, was a suspect in the Monday vehicle burglary.

Hawkins was arrested without incident and taken to San Mateo County Jail. The second suspect remains at large, according to police.
