SURF REPORT: Southerly Energy Is Sticking Around

The surf is looking like a repeat.

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report.

Well, it's looking a lot like yesterday, with mostly the early southerly energy sticking around.

The conditions are starting off nice and clean, with a mix of mostly lingering south southwest swell and just a touch of northwest energy in the background.

That recipe is offering some soft, sectiony lines, with a few fun ones early on. It'll definitely get faster and steeper as that tide drops throughout the day.

Most San Clemente spots are running about knee- to waist-high, with the top south-facing breaks pulling stomach-high waves, with a few plus sets likely to roll through later on.

Checking the tides: At 7:37 this morning it climbs way up to a 5.4 high which will have many spots pretty swamped and slow early to mid morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 0.4 low at 2:18 this afternoon.

If you're planning on paddling, then you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees.  See ya in the water!
